Client vs contractor accounts

For: client, contractor

Choose the right account type at registration; you cannot switch roles in-app later without a new account.

When you register, WorkMe asks how you will use the app:

Client

  • Post service requests and receive proposals
  • Search Contractors and send direct requests
  • Approve proposals and track jobs under My Requests
  • Message contractors from Messages

Contractor

  • Browse open requests on Home
  • Submit and manage Proposals
  • Run Jobs after approval
  • Complete Profile setup (company, services, service area) before full access
  • Manage business details under Settings → Business

Important

  • Pick Client or Contractor during sign-up — this choice defines your tabs and permissions.
  • Workers are not created via public sign-up; your contractor adds you to their company.
  • Support staff accounts are provisioned by WorkMe and are not available during self-registration.
